“Would You Rather” Book Tag Tour – Brian’s Turn
The “Would You Rather Book Tag” tour is a simple Q&A post in which the tagged, that’s me, answers a series of pre-written questions on books and reading. Once complete, I have to tag 5 people to do the same.
So as near as I can tell, it looks like the original tag tour was actually 10 questions in the “Would You Rather BookTube Edition“. I believe I was tagged to answer 8 questions but I think I’m going to bring it back around to the original ten.
Would you rather…
1. Read only trilogies or stand alones?
2. Read only female or male authors?
3. Shop at Barnes & Noble or Amazon?
4. All books become movies or t.v. shows?
5. Read 5 pages per day or 5 books per week?
6. Be a professional reviewer or author?
7. Only read your top 20 favorite books over and over or always read new ones that you haven’t read before?
8. Be a librarian or book seller?
9. Only read your favorite genre, or every genre except your favorite?
10. Only read physical books or eBooks?

I would normally pass on a tag post like this but when I was tagged by Mitch Mitchell, I thought it was a good fit for me, as well as a nice change of pace. So thank you Mitch, it’s not a game of Global Thermonuclear War

Would you rather…
1. Read only trilogies or stand alones?
[Tweet “Just tell me a story without the taunting “to be continued”. ~Brian D. Hawkins #FamousQuotes”]I guess I’m a loner. Book series are alright but when I’m looking for a nice fictional story, I don’t want to invest months into a bunch of different books. I just don’t have the bandwidth for it. I’ve been avoiding books like Stephen King’s ‘The Dark Tower‘ series for that very reason. A trilogy (3 books)? I can handle it if it’s an amazing story.
2. Read only female or male authors?
[Tweet “A great story cares nothing of its creator. ~Brian D. Hawkins #FamousQuotes”]I’ve honestly never given gender a moment’s thought when looking at books and authors. For fiction, I enjoy a lot of Sci-Fi and horror which are generally written by men but that’s the writer’s preference, not mine. I do read a lot of non-fiction, mostly business related, and gender has never been one of my considerations when choosing.
3. Shop at Barnes & Noble or Amazon?
[Tweet “Amazon makes me feel like abundance is okay. ~Brian D. Hawkins #FamousQuotes”]Amazon, all the way. I passed my Nook HD 7″ Tablet
My Kindle library has grown very quickly (including Kindle Unlimited), I’m an Amazon Prime subscriber (Join Amazon Prime – Start Free Trial Now
4. All books become movies or t.v. shows?
[Tweet “Making movies is how book gossip starts. ~Brian D. Hawkins #FamousQuotes”]I’m with Mitch Mitchell on this one, that’s a tough call. I guess story wise, I love books more.
For example, I love the TV series ‘Under The Dome‘ based on Stephen King’s book. Well, this season kind of sucks but that’s for another post. After last season I read the book and it was a great read. The TV series has deviated so much from the book it’s a little hard to enjoy it.
One of my favorite Sci-Fi books of all time was The Martian

5. Read 5 pages per day or 5 books per week?
[Tweet “A chapter a day keeps the reality shows at bay. ~Brian D. Hawkins #FamousQuotes”] Ain’t nobody got time for that. lol Five pages a day; if those are the only two choices but I make it a habit to read at least a chapter every day (not including Audible books).6. Be a professional reviewer or author?
[Tweet “I’d be a great author if I could write gooder. ~Brian D. Hawkins #FamousQuotes #writing”] Ouch, I just realized I could be considered a book reviewer but I’d rather be an author – assuming I couldn’t be both. I review business books on my book review blog, SucessReads.com. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a far cry from a professional reviewer. I’m a blogger and on Success Reads I can feel a tiny bit like both.7. Only read your top 20 favorite books over and over or always read new ones that you haven’t read before?
[Tweet “Let’s start thinking in terms of “Top Thousand”. ~Brian D. Hawkins #FamousQuotes”] I have one of the worst memories ever. Seriously, I can watch a movie two years after watching it the first time and it is as if I had never watched it before. In fact, I can’t count how many times I’ve watched a movie only to realize I’ve already seen it once it’s almost over. But, I love new and exciting stories so I’d have to choose new books I’ve never read.8. Be a librarian or book seller?
[Tweet “I’m as sexy as a librarian but the work is too violent. ~Brian D. Hawkins #FamousQuotes”] I like business, as you can see with many of the links in this post, so book seller – hand’s down. However, I would love to have an old free-standing card catalog cabinet. I have no idea what I would do with it but that was one of my favorite memories of going to the library as a child.9. Only read your favorite genre, or every genre except your favorite?
[Tweet “A great apocalyptic novel gets me excited about the future. ~Brian D. Hawkins #FamousQuotes”] Call me selfish, but I have to go with my own favorite genre. The problem is I like so many types of books and genres it would be tough to narrow down to just one. As I mentioned, I love Sci-Fi and horror books but I also like mysteries, and, believe it or not, apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic fiction. And business/success books, of course. I’m a bit of a tech geek so I guess it was inevitable I’d gravitate toward digital content. Well, that and being a blogger. 😉 I also love the ability to bookmark, highlight, and add notes while syncing across my devices.
Tagging Can Be Obnoxious
It might just be me but tagging someone out of the blue feels like I’m showing up at their front door with a big $h1t eating grin on my face so I don’t do it very often. I spent more time finding the right people to tag than I did writing this entire post.
Below you will find the five people I’m challenging to take on this fun idea, along with a relevant G+ post – because that’s how we roll. Feel free to nominate yourself if I have overlooked your interest.
Note To My Five
I have no idea if you have any interest in accepting this challenge, if you have the time, or even have an appropriate place to post it. No worries should you decide to decline, I completely understand. You still get the mention and my appreciation for checking this out.
TIP: If this type of content isn’t relevant to your blog (I would have never posted it on Hot Blog Tips), may I suggest posting it on G+, Facebook, LinkedIn, or even YouTube?
