Dollar Shave Club, On-Demand & Auto-Delivery Services

Last updated on September 27, 2021

I’m going to take a quick minute to talk about the advantages of modern life I’m really enjoying. I’ll offer my honest review of the Dollar Shave Club and add my thoughts on other on-demand products and services I’m taking advantage of.

EDIT/UPDATE: Here we are, six years later. Do I still use Dollar Shave Club? No, I’m afraid not. I’m using Harry’s now, mainly due to convenience. They’re in Costco, Walmart, etc.

I don’t want to badmouth the brand, but I left Dollar Shave Club years ago. See, now I feel I need to tell the story. Here ya go, the short and boring version.

Dollar Shave Club was doing everything right. Social media, viral videos, product promotions, everything. I was into that kind of thing.

Although I bought into the dollar-a-blade concept, I soon found something I really learned to appreciate in their growing product lineup – One Wipe Charlies.

As a truck driver, having a nice individually wrapped wipe in my pocket was, well, dare I say ‘refreshing? I’m sure that stuck from their marketing campaigns. LOL

Anyway, long story short, they doubled the price of those One Wipe Charlies and I wasn’t happy at all. I felt that the company took marketing advice from a street thug and got us hooked and then raised the price.

After contacting the company, that analogy wasn’t quite true but it was almost as bad.

They told me they wanted to focus on their flagship products and only used products like One Wipe Charlies to get things in motion. They actually admitted that they doubled the price to discourage sales.

That was enough for me to find alternatives. That took like five seconds.

I switched to Harry’s for the razors and Dude Wipes for the wipes, both of which I still use today. I am a loyal customer until you crap on that loyalty. Then I’ll leave you, and years later I may blog about it.

So check Harry’s out. I haven’t had a single issue with them. And here’s Dude Wipes. You can buy either of them directly online, from Amazon, or even Walmart. No affiliate links this time, just my honest recommendations.

My Dollar Shave Club Review

Okay, here’s my official review after 3 uses. I’m not one of those to swear that the shave feels like an angel caressed the lather from my face and I wake up every morning excited to shave just because I used a referral link. lol

Here’s the truth. It’s a pretty good shave. The handle is quality and the blades are decent.

I bought “The 4×” @ $6/month. So for 6 bucks a month (shipping is free with that blade) I never have to worry about using the same blade beyond its effectiveness again because I forget to get replacements. This happens a lot in my life.

For me, the Dollar Shave Club is convenient and quality combined with a great price. I can’t think of a better reason to use a product. Other than the Angle thing that is. 😉

Here’s my referral link if you want to give Dollar Shave Club a try.

Other On Demand & Auto Delivery Services

Note Update: I removed the affiliate links below. If you cannot find something, hit me up in the comments below and I’ll try to hook you up. I may revisit this topic in a future post. No promises though.

As it turns out, I enjoy automatic purchases. I prefer auto bill pay from the bank.

I loved it when we had a yard service and water delivery. I didn’t care for the cost and annual contracts in these cases.

I absolutely love my on-demand services like NetFlix, Amazon Prime (Prime Music – Join Amazon Prime – Listen to Over a Million Songs – Start Free Trial Now

  • Save
) & Instant Video
  • Save
), and Pandora.

I use Kindle Unlimited and Audible daily (Try Audible free for 30 days and Get Two Free Audiobooks

).

I’m even using Amazon Subscribe & Save

now.

I use a lot of cloud services too. Here’s a Google Plus post I shared from Mitch Mitchell.

Teeny Tiny Rant

I’m enjoying technology and great service so I just laugh at the naysayers that spew their “holier-than-thou” posts all over Facebook that we’re all going to hell in a handbasket because everything is too easy.

The End Of The World? WTH lol

Don’t get me wrong, I try to keep prepared for that inevitable day the EMPs start exploding and send us back to the Stone Age. 😉 Until then, I’m going to keep my bug-out bag and survival gear packed out of mind and enjoy what we have. This is an amazing time to be alive.
